The Chicago Cubs may have two MVP candidates in Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant this season.

On Thursday, Bryant may have taken the lead as he went 5-for-5 and drove in 5 RBI’s in the Cubs 9-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The third baseman reached a milestone on his big day.

With his perfect day, Bryant became just the second player in MLB history to have TWO five-hit, two home run games in a single season. He joins Gary Carter on that list:

But that’s not it. Bryant also became just the second player to have multiple five-hit, five RBI games in a season.

Wait, there’s more.

Bryant became just the first player in MLB history with three games in which he hit two home runs and recorded four hits before the age of 25.

It doesn’t end there. Bryant made some Cubs history as well.

Bryant joined his teammate and fellow MVP candidate, Rizzo (2014), on the list of Cubs players to hit 30-plus home runs in a season at age 24 or younger. Ernie Banks (1955), Ron Santo (1964) and Sammy Sosa (1993) are the other three players on that list.

The second-year player has been a staple in the Cubs’ success this season along with Rizzo. Both are on pace to get 100 RBI’s, something Rizzo did last season. Bryant finished with 99.

The two have helped the Cubs reach a 45-19 home record and the best overall record in baseball at 77-43. It’s going to be one hell of a race headed into the final 42 games of the season.
