The Chicago Bulls are 4-7 through the first month of the 2020-21 NBA season but have shown flashes of being a better team under their first year with Billy Donovan. While the Bulls don’t have a true superstar on their roster, they have a good core of players that are starting to gel together.
Coby White, Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams, Wendell Carter and Lauri Markkanen are the core that Chicago has built prior to Donovan and it’s unsure if all will be here when they start to make changes. But already one player is earning some praise from a super star.
Following their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last week, LeBron James was asked about rookie Patrick Williams and offered up this answer via The Rookie Wire:
I think he is going to be an exceptional talent. [He has] long arms. He has Kawhi-type of hands that I noticed out on the floor so I knew I couldn’t play with the ball much. You can tell he is just laser-sharp on just trying to get better and better. …
Williams is averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 assist per game while shooting 47 percent from the field early on. He’s getting better as the games go on and it wouldn’t shock us to see him in talks for rookie of the year later on as the season goes on.
Williams next chance to make an impact will come Friday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a game the Bulls are looking to win as the go through a tough month in January. Markkanen and Ryan Arcidiacono will be back on the court tomorrow when they play against the Thunder and we could see the odds favoring the Chicago team when they got released probably tonight or tomorrow morning.
The Bulls currently sit as the No. 12 seed in the Eastern Conference with that 4-7 record but there is still a long ways to go this year as they hope to climb the standings. Their previous game against the Boston Celtics was postponed on Tuesday as part of COVID-19 issues with the Celtics.
