The Chicago Bears added defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard to their roster in the third round of the NFL Draft
After trading twice in the second round, GM Ryan Pace stayed put in the third round and selected Jonathan Bullard with the 72nd pick in the NFL Draft.
The Bears were expected to add another defensive end after drafting linebacker/end Leonard Floyd in the first round on Thursday night. Bullard adds some depth to a line that needed it going into the draft.
Bullard’s strengths are his quickness off the line. He’s got a high motor and can get into the backfield to disrupt the play. Bullard might be one of the most underrated defensive tackles in the entire draft.
Bullard’s quickness gets him into trouble sometimes as he over-pursues on plays and doesnt play with that quick-twitch movement.
He was projected to go in the second round by NFL.com and was compared to Mario Edwards. Bullard will need to improve his pass rush to reach peak status, but could be a force for the Bears for years to come.
