As we continue to countdown the days until the Chicago Bears kickoff vs. the Green Bay Packers on September 13th. With just 47 days left, we look at one of the best wide receivers in franchise history.
The Bears haven’t had a rich history at the wide receiver position but with the recent drafting of Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White, things could change. Prior to Jeffery and White’s arrival, the Bears brought in Brandon Marshall who was expected to shatter wide receiver records in the Windy City. Marshall did break a few but the one he didn’t break belongs to former Bear Johnny Morris.
Morris wore #47 in his 10-year NFL career with the Chicago Bears and remains the team’s all-time leader in receiving yards with 5,059. He made one Pro Bowl in 1960 and was named an All-Pro in 1964. During that 1964 season Morris led the NFL with 93 receptions, 1,212 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also helped lead the Bears to the 1963 NFL Championship.
After his career, Morris was a sportscaster for WBBM-TV in Chicago and a color commentator in for CBS Sports.
