NFL Power Rankings: Chicago Bears fall after loss to Broncos

After rising in the power rankings the last two weeks with wins, the Chicago Bears took a tumble in this weeks rankings through various media outlets.

The Bears may have peaked in last weeks rankings being included in the top 20 in almost every major publication for the first time since the preseason. Now the Bears find themselves on the brink of the top 20. Check out where they rank:

ESPN

After rising to No. 16 on the list, the Bears fall three spots in the rankings complied by ESPN analysts:

Six of the Bears’ past seven games have been decided by a field goal or less, the most such games this season. The Bears are 3-3 in those games.

CBS Sports

Pete Prisco hasn’t been one to knock the Bears all season and has actually believed in them. This week he has them falling three spots to No. 18.

They just don’t have the talent yet, and injuries have crippled the offense. But they are competing against good teams, which is a good sign.

NFL.com

Elliott Harrison had the Bears crack the top 20 last week at No. 19 and he has them staying put despite the loss to the Broncos this week.

Who hoped for a different play call on the failed two-point conversion late in Sunday’s loss? Speaking directly to Bears fans, who of course are pumped up about Jeremy Langford’s play in Year 1. But wasn’t that a low-percentage call versus a stout Broncos defense? Langford had been held to just 25 yards on 13 carries by that ferocious front seven, so running up the gut out of the shotgun seemed … curious. What would you have liked to see there? (@HarrisonNFL) I say roll Jay Cutler out on a run-pass option.

FOX Sports

The Bears peaked last week at No. 17 on FOX Sports’ weekly rankings, but this week they are back to No. 21.

Without Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte and with a banged-up Martellus Bennett, the Bears are short of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball.

Yahoo Sports

Yahoo was the only publication that had the Bears moving up this week. Perhaps they saw how the Bears competed without playmakers Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte and Eddie Royal against the league’s No. 1 defense.

Jeremy Langford watch: 78 carries, 3.2-yard average.
