Week one of the 2015 NFL season is over and that means publications are releasing updated power rankings after the first set of games. In this weekly article we will break down where the Bears fall in a few power rankings.

ESPN

ESPN has released its new power rankings after updating them following the preseason finale last week. With the loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Bears fell two spots to #27 on the list. Here’s what ESPN wrote:

The Bears have now lost six straight games dating to last season. Only the Buccaneers have a longer active losing streak (7 games).

Other NFC North foes include Packers (#2), Lions (#20) and Vikings (#25).

CBS Sports

CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco also released his updated power rankings on Tuesday and he has the Bears just a few spots higher than ESPN does. Prisco has the Bears at #25 on the list, down three spots from #22 last week. Here’s what Prisco writes:

They did some nice things on offense and the defense looked improved against the Packers. That’s progress.

The Packers retained the top spot on the list, while both the Vikings (#25) and Lions (20) fell.

NFL.com

Elliott Harrison posted NFL.com’s official rankings on Tuesday, with the Chicago Bears in the same spot as they are in for ESPN. The #27 ranking is down two spots from last week’s #25 ranking. Here’s what Harrison says about the Bears:

It was a close contest at Soldier Field on Sunday. You have to love the Bears rolling out the 1940s-era throwbacks. Ultimately, the new-look defense in Chicago faltered in the second half, allowing Green Bay to score touchdowns on three of their four full possessions: Aaron Rodgers marched the Packers on TD drives of 59, 78 and 48 yards — with the last one coming off a crushing Jay Cutler pick. Another middling performance from the Chicago QB, in case you only watched eight minutes.

FOX Sports

The common theme seems to be having the Bears at #27 on power rankings and thats the case for FOX Sports as well. They listed the Bears at 27th, which is actually up two spots from last week. Yes, despite the loss the Bears actually improved two sports. Here’s the reasoning:

New head coach John Fox is doing the best he can with the talent he has to work with on defense, and the Bears could end up finishing as a respectable unit. A toned-down offensive approach could keep quarterback Jay Cutler’s turnovers down, but it will also limit his big-play ability.

The Bears will take on the Arizona Cardinals in week two Sunday.
