Hope.

A four letter word that captures the essence of every Bears fan that viewed last night’s game against the Aaron Rodgers driven Green Bay Packers. We saw more than just flashes of hope on both sides of the ball.

The 2016 Defensive player of the year Khalil Mack made his debut as a Bear last night and dominated early on, making his presence felt as they jumped out to a 17-0 lead over their rival on the road. The former Oakland Raiders edge rusher made an impact right away recording a strip sack of Packers QB DeShone Kizer and then picking him off and bringing the interception back for a touchdown.

While the defense was rolling, the offense also looked good early on.

Mitchell Trubisky led the Bears on a long opening drive that resulted in a rushing touchdown for the second-year quarterback. He went 8-of-9 for 99 yards in the first quarter and everything was clicking.

But in the second half, quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned and it spelled doom for the Bears.

Rodgers rallied the Packers back into the game after being down 17-0. Fast forward to the fourth quarter, Trubisky had lead the Bears down the field on a 14-play, 61-yard drive but it ended with a 32-yard field goal to give the Bears a 23-17 lead. Instead of pounding the ball with Jordan Howard on 3rd and 2, Nagy called a pass play and Trubisky’s throw fell incomplete.

With 2:36 remaining, Rodgers took over and Bears fans knew what was coming. On third down, Rodgers hit Randall Cobb for a 75-yard touchdown to give Green Bay a 24-23 lead.

The Bears had one more chance but the offense struggled to make big time plays. Trubusky seem to have a hard time finding  rhythm while under pressure. He over threw a lot of passes within closing seconds of the game.

However, even in the loss to the Packers, the Bears showed hope. The defense cognizant of the ‘80s Bears defense with our athletic, youthful, and determined defensive squad. With the offense we’re veey aggressive under Matt Nagy which is synonymous of Jim McMahon Bears.

Even thought a lot of Bears fans are upset about the loss to the Packers, it’s still one game out of sixteen. We have a lot of hope and positive signs we’re going in the right direction under Nagy.

Next game is Monday night at home against the Seattle Seahawks.
