The Bread Man has been rewarded.
Chicago Blackhawks winger Artemi Panarin was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s best rookie on Wednesday night. Panarin received the award at the league’s annual awards show being held in Las Vegas.
The 24-year-old Panarin put on a show during his rookie season with the Blackhawks, forming a deadly line with Patrick Kane. He led all rookies in goals (30), assists (47), points (77), power-play goals (8), power-play points (24) and game winning goals (7). He played in 80 games for the Blackhawks last season.

Panarin (1258 votes) beat out Philadelphia’s Shayne Gostibehere (955 votes) and Edmonton’s Connor McDavid (858 votes) for the award. He became the first Blackhawks player to win the award since Patrick Kane did it in 2008.
