Pete Crow-Armstrong continued to keep his bat hot in the Chicago Cubs‘ 6-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night in front of 37,335 fans at American Family Field. He hit a three-run homer in the fourth to give the Cubs a three-run lead over the Brewers.
The 23-year-old center fielder bet on himself when he turned down a $75 million contract extension in April. He is now tied for the most home runs on the Cubs with nine.
Crow-Armstrong is batting .271/.307/.564 with 26 RBI, 36 hits, and has scored 26 runs to begin the season.
The Chicago Cubs didn’t want to shake up the lineup in April

On April 25, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said the team had “no intention” of changing up the lineup to promote Crow-Armstrong so he could earn more at-bats during his hot streak, saying it was more important who was in the lineup versus the order.
“I think our lineup is executing at a really high level right now,” Counsell said via video from Marquee Sports Network. “I think the way it’s structured… It’s who’s around you kind of determines who your matchups are, kind of later in the game. So we’ve got Pete kind of insulated, and so he’s going to get a lot of right-handers. And he’s been really performing against right-handed pitching.”
Since Counsell’s comments, Chicago demoted Dansby Swanson to No. 8 in the batting order.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is getting a promotion

On Sunday, the Cubs announced they gave Crow-Armstrong a slight promotion to sixth from seventh in the batting order.
