The city of Chicago could be one of three hosts for new college football bowl games beginning in the 2020 season.
According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the Competition Committee has three new bowl games on its list of recommendations for the NCAA. If the NCAA does approve them then three new bowl games will be added to the 2020 season.
One of those bowl games would take place in Chicago according to sources from McMurphy.

McMurphy goes on to say in his post that the recommendations are expected to be approved on Tuesday, meaning a record 43 bowl games will be played in 2020.
For the Chicago bowl, the tie-ins would be the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten. The game would be hosted at Wrigley Field, which will also host the upcoming Northwestern-Wisconsin game in 2018. The site was host to a NU-Illinois game a few years back but only one endzone could be used due to the outfield walls.
It appears as if that has been fixed as renderings for the NU-Wisconsin game were released last week.
