Kyle Schwarber’s struggles in 2017 continue.
According to a report by Comcast Sports Net’s David Kaplan, the Chicago Cubs will demote the struggling left fielder to Triple- A Iowa ahead of a long road trip.
Kaplan sent out this tweet on Thursday:
**Breaking News** Cubs are sending Kyle Schwarber to Class AAA Iowa. Not expected to be gone long but it is an opportunity to clear his head

The move hasn’t been made official and no corresponding move has been set either but it’s hard not to imagine prospect Jeimer Candelario being called up to fill the spot.
Schwarber has struggled big time in 2017. After starting the year as the leadoff hitter, he never really got going. He’s hitting just .171 with 12 home runs and 28 RBI’s on the year.
But his strikeouts have become an alarming statistic.
Schwarber has 75 strikeouts in just 222 at-bats. He’s coming off a very impressive performance in the World Series helping the Cubs win it all in Game 7.
The lefty had a big grand slam that won the game for the Cubs against the Cardinals on June 3rd and since then he’s been slashing .205/.340/.545. The struggles are still mounting however and now he will look to Triple A pitching to solve his woes.
