A new weekly post we are doing at ChiCitySports and we kick it off with one of the best moments in Chicago White Sox history.
Nine years ago to the day the White Sox found themselves trailing 4-2 in the seventh inning during Game 2 of the 2005 World Series. Then Paul Konerko happened.
Konerko stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and launched a grand slam into the left field bleachers to give the White Sox a 6-4 lead. U.S. Cellular was electric and so were the White Sox who grabbed the momentum.
But the dramatics didn’t stop there.
The Astros would come back to tie the game in the ninth inning with two runs leaving the White Sox with the bottom half of the inning to walk off. And that’s exactly what they did. Postseason hero Scott Podsednik finished off the game when he put a ball into the right center bleachers for a White Sox walk off.
