The White Sox have announced that outfielder Avisail Garcia will miss the remainder of the 2014 season after suffering a torn labrum during Wednesday’s game in Colorado. The outfielder suffered the injury while diving for a ball in the sixth inning of Wednesdays game.
The 22-year-old outfielder was acquired via trade last year which included Jake Peavy going to Boston and Jose Iglesias to Detroit. In 202 plat appearances with the Sox, Garcia has hit .298/.332/.450 with seven home runs and 25 RBI. The White Sox were counting on Garcia to help produce in the outfield.
To fill the roster spot, the White Sox have called up Jordan Danks from AAA Charlotte.
