Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras has been on a tear since the MLB All-Star break.
Contreras has hit nine home runs since the All-Star break, helping the Cubs regain the lead in the NL Central once again. He’s hitting over .300 since the break and has 30-plus RBI’s in that span.
But on Sunday, he broke a record set by a future hall of famer.
With his two home runs on Sunday Contreras has 33 through his first 175 games of his career, passing Miguel Cabrera for most by a Venezuelan-born player in his first 175 games.

Cabrera is one of the best Venezuelan-born players in MLB history and will land in the Hall of Fame when he’s wrapped up with his career.
Contreras is still early in his MLB career but has already established himself as one of the best catchers in the league both offensively and defensively. If he keeps hit up, he could follow in Cabreras path.
