Anthony Rizzo has quickly become one of the best players in all of baseball.
He’s a key part of the Chicago Cubs young core that has them just one game away from clinching the National League Central Division and hopefully more this year. On Wednesday, Rizzo hit two home runs in a 7-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals to lower their magic number to one.
In hitting those two home runs, Rizzo did something only one other player in franchise history has done.
Rizzo and Cubs great Billy Williams are the only two players in Cubs history to have multiple seasons of 30 home runs and 100 RBI’s. The 27-year-old first baseman finished with 31 home runs and 101 RBI’s in 2015, his two on Wednesday gave him 31 home runs and 101 RBI’s in 2016.

As you see above, Williams accomplished the feat in 1965, 1970 and 1972.
The Cubs are going to clinch the division title on their upcoming homestand which includes the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals. They will also likely enter October as the top seed in the National League playoffs.
