Berggren and Taylor lead Badgers’ upset of Ohio State

Jared Berggren scored the last five points for the Wisconsin Badgers, including a clutch three-point shot with 31 seconds left, in their 63-60 road win over the ninth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

Berggren was the star of the game for his play on both ends of the floor.  He was assigned the tough job of defending Big Ten player of the year candidate Jared Sullinger.  Berggren was up to the task, holding Sullinger to his lowest point total in Big Ten play this season (eight points).  On the offensive end, Berggren finished with 18 points.

Jordan Taylor bounced back from his rough Thursday night in Iowa City.  He scored an efficient 19 points (6-8 from the field and 6-7 from the line) to lead all Wisconsin scorers.  Taylor also added four assists and five rebounds, while teaming up with Berggren to score the Badgers’ final 13 points of the contest.

Slow-paced Badger basketball was on full display.  All throughout the game, Ohio State was forced to defend 20-30 seconds as the Badgers made sure to use as much of the shot clock as possible.  They showed their intentions from the first possession, when Jordan Taylor made a jumper with 11 on the shot clock.

The victory was the Badgers’ first road win over a top-10 team since 1980.  It moved Wisconsin up to 14th in the AP Poll and 20th in the RPI.

The Badgers will host Minnesota on Tuesday.  Tip is scheduled for 7pm Central time.

I just came across this. Thanks. Great, brief summary of the victory over OSU.

Also saw today your reflections on the Badgers win over Minnie. Really good.

I admire how you are able to tell such a good story with so few words.

    Keep ’em coming!
