B1GBadgers Blank Beavers

Despite a slow start from RBs Montee Ball and James White, Wisconsin had another big game from QB Russell Wilson. Wilson finished 17-21 for 189 yards and 3 TDs. TE Jacob Pedersen caught a pair and RB Montee Ball added 2 rushing TDs in the second half to cement the shutout for the Badgers.

Spartans Stifle Owls

Kirk Cousins threw for 186 yards and 2 TDs on 16 passes. The Spartans used an aerial assault to take the air out from the Owls’ wings early. B.J. Cunningham caught 5 passes for 73 yards and now holds the Michigan State career lead for receptions. The MSU defense held FAU to a slim 48 yards and only 1 first down through the entire game.

Illini Jump Over Jackrabbits

The RB tandem of Nathan Scheelhaase and Donovonn Young combined for 4 TDs as Illinois throttled SDSU 56-3. The Illini clicked on all cylinders as they piled up 519 yards, while the D held the opposition to only 96 yards of total offense.

Buckeyes Escape in Columbus

In-state rival Toledo did all they could to pull the upset, but the Rockets final drive stalled on the Buckeye 17 with under 2 minutes left. The Buckeyes got a boost from Chris Fields as he took a punt 69 yards to the end zone. Carlos Hyder ran for 2 more as Ohio State held on for the win.

Offensive Assault In Iowa Ends Sour For Hawkeyes

James Vandenberg passed for 2 TDs while amassing 207 passing yards on 28 attempts and Marcus Coker added 2 more, but it wasn’t enough as the Cyclones defeated Iowa for bragging rights on James White’s 4-yard TD run in the third overtime.

No Persa, No Problem for NU

Dan Persa dressed, but didn’t play for Northwestern. Didn’t seem to matter as back-up Kain Colter passed for 104 yards and ran for 3 TDs in leading the Wildcats to a 42-21 victory over the visiting Panthers of Eastern Illinois.

Tide Rolls Nittany Lions

AJ McCarron passed for 163 yards and a TD while Trent Richardson added 2 TDs on 26 carries for 111 yards as Alabama stifled Penn State for a 27-11 win at Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions couldn’t muster any offensive consistency as QB Rob Bolden was intercepted and looked out of rhythm all day.

Gophers Downed By Aggies

Andrew Manley piled up 288 yards and threw for 3 TDs as New Mexico State marched into Minneapolis and holed the Gophers. The victory was overshadowed by the unfortunate events that took place in the 4th quarter as Minnesota coach Jerry Kill suffered a seizure in the final minute of play. He was transported to a local hospital where he was in stable condition last night.

Owls Burn Boilermakers

Carson Wiggs’ last-second FG attempt was blocked by Justin Allen as time expired to give Rice the 24-22 upset win over Purdue. It was the first victory for Rice over a BCS school in ten years. Rice hadn’t beaten a Big Ten team since 1997 when they defeated Northwestern 40-34. Caleb TerBush threw for a TD and rushed for another in the loss for the Boilermakers.

Huskers Power Past Bulldogs

Fresno State put a scare into the Cornhuskers for three quarters before Nebraska finally powered past the Bulldogs. Taylor Martinez stole the show for the Huskers as he passed for 219 yards while gaining 166 yards on 15 carries. Martinez had 3 total TDs while Rex Burkhead added 66 yards on the ground and 2 TDs of his own.

Cavs Comeback For W Over IU

Virginia needed 11 points in the final 96 seconds to take down the Hoosiers in Bloomington. Edward Wright-Baker passed for a TD on 171 yards passing while Matt Perez ran for 47 on the ground with 2 TDs of his own.

Bedlam In The Big House

The first ever night game in Ann Arbor didn’t disappoint. Notre Dame led throughout, but Michigan was able to counter when it mattered. Turnovers once again plagued the Irish as they coughed the ball up 5 times. Denard Robinson passed for 338 yards on only 11 completions, but had 3 INTs as well. He added 108 yards and a rushing TD in the win for the Wolverines.
