Chicago Bears 2011 Schedule, Dates, Opponents, etc.

Sorry Bears fans. The speculation of the Bears going to Green Bay to take on the rival Packers to open up the 2011 NFL season was shot down when the NFL released the 2011 schedule today. Instead, the Bears will open up the season at home against the Atlanta Falcons who were the NFC’s number one seed last season. The Packers will host the New Orleans Saints on the Thursday Night opener.

The Bears will open the season on September 11th, hosting the Falcons. They then will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints, and then welcome the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers in week three. Former Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera will make a return trip to Chicago when the Panthers invade Soldier Field in week four.

The Bears will travel to Detroit to take on the Lions on Monday Night Football in week five. Marking the Lions first appearance on Monday Night Football since 2003. In week six, the Bears host the Minnesota Vikings on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

On October 23rd, the Bears will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overseas in London. The Bears bye week follows the London trip on October 3oth.

The Bears and Eagles will clash on Monday Night Football on November 7th, a re-match of last seasons huge game at Soldier Field where the Bears defeated the Eagles. Following that game, the Bears will host the lions on November 13th before taking on the AFC West in four straight weeks.

Week 14 will mark Jay Cutlers first regular season game in Denver since being traded to the Bears in 2009. The Bears wrap up the 2011 season with a Christmas Day prime time game on NBC against the Packers in Green Bay, and then travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings on January 1st in week 17.
