Round 4, pick 133: RB Chase Brown, Illinois / 5’10 209 LBS
We go offense for the third straight pick here. The Canadian Sensation that is Chase Brown would be a great fit for this Chicago Bears team, who lost its starting RB David Montgomery in free agency. They went on and eventually signed D’Onta Foreman to pair with Khalil Herbert, but I believe running back is still a position of need.
Brown was one of the best backs in the country this past season as he led the charge for the Illinois Fighting Illini, rushing for 1,643 yards which was fourth best in the nation. He made a strong push to be a Heisman candidate as he was quite literally the engine for the Illinois offense. He tallied 10 rushing touchdowns to go along with 3 receiving touchdowns, as he’s a pretty good pass catcher out of the backfield as well.

Brown also benefited from running behind a pretty solid offensive line for the Fighting Illini, but his breakaway speed and downhill power makes him an intriguing target. I think he’d be a perfect fit for the Chicago Bears system that currently needs a guy like Brown, a young power back who can also contribute to pass game as well. He hit 100-plus yards rushing in nine consecutive games in 2022 on an average of 27 carries per game. Brown is a work horse.
He did fumble four times in 2022 which highlights some of the concerns with Brown. Once again that’s something that can be fixed season to season. Brown also needs to improve as a pass blocking eventually if he wants to be every down back. Look for the Chicago Bears to absolutely take a look at Brown if he’s here at 133.
