The news broke on Monday that Chicago Cubs officials Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer were meeting with free agent starting pitcher Yu Darvish, showing their continued pursuit of a starter to add to their rotation.
Following that meeting, Darvish sent out a tweet detailing how the meeting went.

As you can see, the tweet is in Japanese. But from gathering various reports, the meeting apparently went very well.
The Associated Press wrote that the meeting went very well according to Darvish’s statement on Monday night. The meeting apparently lasted three-and-a-half hours long with Darvish, Epstein and Hoyer.
Another point is that Darvish didn’t use a translator to the meeting.
The starter wanted to work on his English more so he wanted to do the meeting himself. He also says he’s going to work on his English again on Tuesday, hinting that there’s another meeting. Darvish does not say who he was meeting with on Tuesday.
Darvish is seeking a deal for five-to-six years and the Cubs likely don’t want to commit that far with the right-hander. ESPN Cubs beat writer Jesse Rogers was on ESPN 1000 this morning and hinted that Darvish could get a four-year deal from the Cubs.
The pitcher finished last season 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA in starts for both the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers. He struggled in the World Series against the Houston Astros.
