Dodgers 9, Cubs 7

Los Angeles — Russell Martin hit a three-run blast off Ted Lilly (3-8) in the 2nd and the Dodger bats never looked back. The Dodgers tagged Lilly for 7 runs in just 3 2/3 innings, his shortest start of the season. Casey Blake and Andre Ethier also drove ina pair of runs in support of Chad Billingsley (7-4) who earned the win going 7 plus innings allowing 4 runs with 9 strikeouts.

The Cubs made a valiant comeback upon Billingsley’s exit scoring two in the eighth and ninth before Jonathan Broxton finally shut them down. Cubs All-Star representative Marlon Byrd once again did everything for the Cubs stroking 4 hits and driving in 3 in the Cubs loss. Byrd also made a spectacular catch to rob Xavier Paul in the 5th.

Been following Chicago sports for many years. I have ties to Rockford, Illinois however have since been displaced in North Carolina far from Illinois. I am still an avid fan despite the geographical complications in following my teams. I am known as the internet’s #1 Rex Grossman connoisseur
