Cubs 11, Phillies 6

Chicago — The Cubs shocked the Phillies and their ace Roy Halladay (10-8) to the tune of 6 runs (5 earned) on seven hits over 6 innings including home runs from Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto. However, it was the kids at the top of the order who sparked the Cubs offense. Rookies Tyler Colvin and Starlin Castro, the number 1 and 2 hitters, combined to go 6-9 with 3 runs scored an RBI and a stolen base. Soto, Soriano, and Derrek Lee all added three RBI in the win.

Tom Gorzelanny held down the Phillies for 6 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits. He allowed 5 free passes while striking out 5. Ryan Howard added another home run his fourth in the series and 21st overall.
