It’s Cubs’ outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong’s world and we are just living in it. The 23 year old is taking Major League Baseball by storm this year by slashing .287/.319/.589 with 14 home runs, 45 RBI, and 14 stolen bases through 51 games. He currently ranks seventh in home runs, third in RBI, and sixth in stolen bases.
Aside from the eye popping statistics, Crow-Armstrong has entered historic territory as his numbers are echoing the peaks of legends like Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa. Here we take a look at two stats that prove this.
One statistic that shows Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong is in Barry Bonds territory

According to Nugget Chef on X, it’s been since 1992 that a player had at least 14 home runs and 14 stolen bases through 51 games played to begin a season. Barry Bonds was the last to do this, in which that year he went on to win his second MVP award as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Bonds, who is well known for his ability to hit home runs, was also a speed threat early in his career, topping out at 52 during the 1990 season, but from 1986-1997 he had eight seasons where he surpassed the 30 stolen base mark.
The parallels between Bonds’ early blend of power and speed and what Crow-Armstrong is showcasing now are almost surreal.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is also in Sammy Sosa territory

Crow-Armstrong did not hit a home run throughout the Cubs first 17 games of the 2025 season. Since then, a span of 34 games, he has hit all 14 of his long balls. Per ESPN Statistics, this makes Crow-Armstrong the third Cub since 1901 to hit 14 home runs in 34 games, joining Sammy Sosa and Hank Sauer.
Sosa is well known to the city of Chicago, having spent 13 years in a Cubs uniform and three as a member of the White Sox. With the North Siders, 11 of his 13 seasons consisted of hitting 30 or more home runs.
Per Fangraphs, Crow-Armstrong’s current 162 game 2025 pace has him hitting 44 home runs, stealing 44 bases, and collecting 143 RBI. While that pace is unrealistic to expect, his play this year has put him in elite Bonds and Sosa territory that should also help him gain steam as an early MVP candidate.
