Pete Crow-Armstrong has firmly earned the trust and confidence of both the Chicago Cubs’ organization and it’s fanbase with his standout performance this season. The 23 year old has emerged as a breakout star, posting an impressive .882 OPS. He currently stands alone as the only MLB player with at least a dozen home runs and a dozen stolen bases, which is a rare blend of power and speed that should quickly make him ascend to being a star in this league.

Furthermore, the young outfielder recently had another exceptional performance. On Friday night he tied a Cubs franchise record dating back to 1976 as he erupted for four hits and six RBI.

Facing the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox, Crow-Armstrong had a monster performance out of the lead off spot. He launched a three run home run in the second inning, an RBI single in the sixth, and a two RBI single in the seventh. Of his six RBI, five of them came with two outs in the inning.

According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Crow-Armstrong’s six RBI as a lead off hitter tied Rick Monday’s franchise record for the most RBI in a single game while hitting first in the lineup. Monday accomplished this May 5, 1976.

For Crow-Armstrong, six RBI in a single game was a career high for him, surpassing his previous best of four. Per Al Yellon of SB Nation, it also marked the second time that he had collected four hits in a game, doing this last on August 28, 2024.

With each passing game, Crow-Armstrong continues to prove that his breakout is no fluke. His power, speed, and clutch hitting has made him a dangerous threat in the Cubs lineup. If he keeps this up, 2025 will be a special season for him, in which he bet on himself by previously turning down a $75 million contract extension.
