Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasters go on rant about Cubs having fun

After a disappointing loss in the first game of the series, the Chicago Cubs managed to come back and win two-straight to take the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers this week at Wrigley Field.

Chicago won game two of Tuesday’s double-header after blowing a one-run lead with two outs in the ninth. They responded with an extra innings win capped off by a Albert Almora Jr. single. On Wednesday, starting pitcher Jon Lester dominated with seven shutout innings allowing just five hits as he improved to 9-2 on the year.

Lester had some help in the form of spectacular defense behind him including Jason Heyward connecting with Willson Contreras to nail a runner out at the plate on a double-play and Javier Baez recording a double-play of his own. While the plays had Cubs fans cheering, it didn’t have the same effect on the Dodgers TV broadcast.

Announcer Joe Davis went on a minute rant about how good the Cubs defense is and their “almost bat-flip mentality” as defenders aren’t afraid to rub it in. You can listen to the rant below:

dodgers announcers believe cubs show off to much on defense & exaggerate injuries so fans can see. another dumb mainstreammedia idea no one cares abt pic.twitter.com/7N8XvILpHy

— DOM (@DOM_Frederic) June 21, 2018

After the game, Davis took to Twitter to clarify his comments:

Guys, for the record, I enjoy the way the Cubs play. The "bat-flip mentality" comment I agreed with — I consider that mentality fun and good for the game. Love the flair, love the joy they play with. Can't wait for Dodgers/Cubs again next week!

— Joe Davis (@Joe_Davis) June 21, 2018

The Cubs and Dodgers will meet again for a four-game series in Los Angeles next week.

Way to misrepresent what Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser were saying, Zack! During their supposed *rant,* they said of the Cubs’ style: “I like it!” “It’s fun!” … And as a Dodgers fan, I would agree. I enjoy the Cubs’ swagger. I wish the Dodgers displayed some of it.
