The status of Luther Burden III was unknown Saturday afternoon after he appeared to suffer an injury during the second day of rookie minicamp practice. Burden was seen speaking to trainers after walking with some pain following a catch he made during the practice.
Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle chose not to give an update on Burden during his press conference on Saturday, defering that duty to head coach Ben Johnson, who was not scheduled to meet with media for the remainder of the minicamp.
The Bears have high hopes for Burden, selected with the No. 39 pick in April’s draft.
Update on Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III

Per Chris Emma of 670 The Score, Burden was seen at practice on Sunday and was making plays on the field.
“After checking out of practice yesterday with some discomfort, Luther Burden III was back on the field and making plays,” Emma wrote.

The positive update was a good sign before voluntary OTAs begin on May 20. Burden will get to practice his first reps on the field with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
The Bears No. 10 pick in the draft, tight end Colston Loveland, is a limited participant in pracice during OTAs this spring. It would have been a rough start to spring practice if Chicago’s top two picks were unable to build chemistry with Williams in OTAs.
