The Chicago Bears already have one draft pick taking mental reps during OTAs. They could soon have another.
Tight end Colston Loveland, the No. 10 pick in the draft, is unable to lift heavy weights or go full contact in drills this spring as he recovers from a shoulder surgery he underwent on Jan. 29. He’s taking mental reps at rookie OTAs and plans to workout with quarterback Caleb Williams and receivers this summer.
Chicago Bears rookie WR Luther Burden III suffers injury

On Saturday, Luther Burden III, whom the Bears took with the No. 39 pick, suffered an injury at practice, per multiple reports.
“Bears rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III walked off gingerly after a catch at the end of practice and met with the training staff,” posted Chris Emma of 670 The Score on X. “Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle deferred injury updates to head coach Ben Johnson, who is not expected to speak today.”

The Bears have one more day of rookie minicamp practice on Sunday. The next practice after that is scheduled for May 20, when veterans will be on the field for voluntary minicamp.
Chicago chose Burden in the second round over other positions of need because he was the best player available at No. 39. Burden was projected as a first-round receiver before the 2024 season, but poor quarterback play for Missouri hampered his stats.
On Friday, Burden said he’s making it his quest to make the teams who passed on him pay during his career. Hopefully, Saturday’s injury won’t delay Burden from that goal.
