While Michael Jordan sold some of his shares for the Charlotte Hornets, the basketball legend is getting into the tequila game.

Yep, Jordan is partner in the new high-end tequila “Cincoro”, a combination of the Spanish words “five” (cinco) and “gold” (oro). It’s set to release nationwide in January of 2020 and will be tested in four markets leading up to the release.

Jordan joined forces with some notable names in the NBA to partner for the Tequila and per the press release, the idea all started back at a dinner in 2016. Joining Jordan in the venture are president and controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeanie Buss; the co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, Wes Edens; and the lead owners of the Boston Celtics, Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck.

“We set out to create a sipping tequila that is ultra-smooth, naturally rich, complex and delicious; a tequila with exceptional taste,” explains Emilia Fazzalari, Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of Cinco Spirits. “Through hard work, determination and collaboration with our amazing group of founders and extended team, we have brought to life Cincoro Tequila. We believe each of our four Cincoro expressions provides a unique tequila experience that can transcend the category. We cannot wait to share Cincoro with the world!”

There will be four varieties of Cincoro and the design of the bottle will pay homage to Jordan’s career. Each bottle is designed with a 23-degree angle as homage to Jordan wearing number 23 in his career.

The four varieties available upon release will be a $70 blanco, a $90 reposado, a $130 añejo and Jordan’s personal favorite, the $1,600 extra añejo.
