With their win over the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, the Chicago Bears may have saved their season. At 5-6 they currently sit on the outside of the NFC Wild Card race with the Packers (7-4) and Seahawks (6-5) in the two spots, Chicago is essentially two games behind both teams with the tie-breakers.

Week 13 provides some interesting match-ups in the NFL that will impact the Bears playoff chances. Obviously the Bears need to beat the San Francisco 49ers but let’s take a look at what would benefit them in other games:

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions; Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Lions are looking to sweep the season series for the first time since 1991 and win their fourth straight. Meanwhile, the Packers are looking to avoid a second-straight loss to an NFC North Division opponent.

Who should the Bears root for? The Bears should be rooting for a Lions win on Thursday.

Seattle Seahawks @ Minnesota Vikings; Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

With Minnesota leading the division, the Bears chances to catch them are bleak. Instead Chicago should focus on Seattle who is two games up due to a tiebreak. But the Seahawks are hot and are looking at pushing for another deep playoff run.

Who should the Bears root for? Minnesota. With the Vikings still on the schedule, Chicago needs to try and catch Seattle any way they can.

New York Jets @ New York Giants; Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

In the battle of the Meadowlands, the Giants really need a win to stay in the NFC East race. The Jets on the other hand are in the middle of the AFC wild card race.

Who should the Bears root for? New York. Okay, but really they need to be rooting for the Jets in this one and it’s obvious.

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

A big NFC South matchup that will really impact the playoff race. The Buccaneers are just a game out of a playoff spot and being tied with the Falcons. A win this week would go a long way for their chances. Atlanta on the other hand needs a win to keep pace and hope Seattle loses.

Who should the Bears root for? While the Bears need both teams to lose this weekend, it’s better for the team they are farther behind to lose. Root for Tampa Bay.
