Cubs 14, Astros 7

Chicago — On the day legendary manager Lou Piniella announced his retirement from baseball his team exploded from a 7-1 deficit to down the visiting Houston Astros. Aramis Ramirez single-handedly led the Cubs back with three homers and seven runs batted in. Derrek Lee added three RBI of his own.

The Cubs fell behind early allowing four runs in the top of the 2nd. Three of them unearned after a bad throwing error by 2B Ryan Theriot, but the Cubs rallied back in the 5th scoring five unearned runs of their own off Astros starter Wesley Wright as the Astros melted down committing an error, hitting a batter, allowing a passed ball, and being called for a balk in the inning.

Cubs rookie Andrew Cashner (1-3) earned his first career win in relief.

Been following Chicago sports for many years. I have ties to Rockford, Illinois however have since been displaced in North Carolina far from Illinois. I am still an avid fan despite the geographical complications in following my teams. I am known as the internet’s #1 Rex Grossman connoisseur
