RB Michael Bush Signs 4 Year Deal with Bears

The Chicago Bears have found their backup to franchise running back Matt Forte.

This means Marion Barber is likely on his way out of Chicago. Bush will be the third backup running back the Bears have brought in to compliment Matt Forte over the past few years. The Bears brought in Chester Taylor two years ago, and Marion Barber last off season.

Bush gets a four year contract at $14 million, with $7 million guarenteed. The Bears certainly boost their backfield that already possesses one of the best running backs in the league in Matt Forte.

This could poses problems for Matt Forte whose contract negotiations look to be headed south, after he was slapped with a franchise tag. Forte’s tag was worth $7.7 million and with Bush getting $7 million guaranteed over, Forte could holdout until he gets a bigger contract.

Bush had a career year last season with the Oakland Raiders as he rushed for 977 yards in 16 games. Bush had an impact in the receiving game as well for the Raiders as he caught 37 passes for 418 yards out of the backfield. The Bears seemed to be the front runner for Bush since he became a free agent. Other teams like the Cincinnati Bengals were in play, but in the end the Bears signed the running back.

In four seasons with Oakland, Bush carried the ball 632 times for 2,642 yards, and 21 TD’s. Against the Bears, Bush compiled 70 yards on the ground along with a rushing touchdown.

The Bears are showing they want to contend in the NFC by boosting their offense that well, needed a boost. They acquired Brandon Marshall from the Dolphins a week ago, and now with the Bush signing the Bears seem to be all in.

I really like the move. In fact, I like all the moves Emery has done. Such a breath of fresh air after dip-shit Angelo.
