Rex Grossman to Start for Redskins, McNabb Benched

BREAK THOSE GROSSMAN JERSEYS OUT AGAIN! I never thought those words would come across my computer screen.

However, you have read it correctly. Rex Grossman will be starting this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. ESPN is reporting that McNabb will be riding the pine in favor of Sexy Rexy.

Grossman’s cult-like following, mostly composed of delusional Bear fans, are ecstatic over this news. Personally I am excited for Rex to get a chance in Washington. His showing vs Detroit in the infamous 2-minute substitution over McNabb didn’t showcase how awesome he “can be”. This will give Bear fans something to watch, while waiting for our Monday night matchup against the Vikings.

If Bear fans have a memory issue, Grossman was the quarterback who led (and by led, I mean our defense) the Bears to the Super Bowl. Here he is pictured with some other quarterback in the league whose not worth mentioning.

ASHBURN, Va. — It’s Rex Grossman over Donovan McNabb. Again. And this time, it’s from the opening kickoff.

The Washington Redskins  plan to start Grossman on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Mike Shanahan said Friday.

Shanahan is benching a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback billed as the next John Elway when he came to the franchise in April.

McNabb’s agent, Fletcher Smith, told ESPN that the Redskins’ decision is “disrespectful to Donovan. He has not been more disrespected his whole career than he has this season. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The 34-year-old McNabb is struggling through his worst season since he was a rookie in 1999. He’s thrown a career-high 15 interceptions and ranks 25th in the NFL with a 77.1 rating for the Redskins (5-8), who have been eliminated from the playoff race.

Please remain silent, as we appreciate the greatness that is, Rex Grossman.

Should be fun to see a former Bear re-write the record books in Washington starting this weekend!

I guess this article was written by an Orton Nut-Hugger who is upset “the bearded one” is being replaced by Tebow this weekend. Sorry dudette.

As for Rex, I guess throwing TD bombs on the SeaHags and Aints to win the 2006 Divisional Playoff and NFC Championship games wasn’t enough for the author of this article.

Grossman came within 17 yards of becoming the first Redskin QB in the entire Redskin history (over a thousand games) to throw for 300 yards 3 games in a row, despite starting a fraction of the games other ‘Skins QBs have. Thos QBs include Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen, Billy Kilmer, Joe Theismann, Doug Williams, Trent Green, Mark Rypien, Donovan McNabb and a host of others. As it is, he beat the Super Bowl winning Giants twice TWICE this season, despite having no offensive line protecting him and almost nothing in terms of receivers.
