Torii Hunter John Danks

Game 1 – Sox 8 Angels 0

The Sox continued their winning ways by winning their 3rd in a row. Edwin Jackson continued his roller coaster of a season this time reaching a high point. Jackson pitched 7 shutout innings giving up 5 hits and 1 walk and struck out 5. He was relieved by Chris Sale and Will Ohman who each pitched a scoreless inning. The Sox hitters continued to be hot with Alexei, Dunn and Beckham each with 2 hits and Carlos added 3 hits 5 RBIs and his 8th homer. The team uncharacteristically went 3/6 with RISP.

Game 2 – Angels 6 Sox 2

The Sox were unable to extend their winning streak dropping a 6 to 2 decision to the Angels. Johnny Danks looked bad, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks. Jeff Gray was solid going 3 innings with 3 strike outs. Besides Alexei going 3/4 and AJ going 2/4 the team was very weak in the hitting department going 0-7 with RISP, they had chances.

Game 3 – Sox 6 Angels 4

Jake Peavy’s first start was soild with the righty throwing 87 pitches, 64 for strikes, over 6 innings surrendering 7 hits and 4 earned runs but walking none. The ‘pen was also solid with Jesse Crain pitching one inning surrendering 1 hit and Sergio Santos went 2 innings surrendering 1 hit for his 2nd win and Thornton finally earned a save going 1 perfect inning. On the offensive side it looked as though it would be another lost game for the Sox bats as opportunity after opportunity was wasted until the ninth when the Sox were able to tie up the game and eventually win it in extras for a 6-4 final. Dunn and AJ each had 4 hits apiece and Juan added 2 of his own. The team collectively left 15 on base and went 1/12 with RISP, which is abhorrent.
