Game 1 – Dodgers 6 Sox 4
The Sox dropped an extra innings decision to the visiting LA Dodgers. Phil Humber pitched well giving up 2 runs on five hits, after shaking off a poor first inning. The bullpen continued to be solid with Thornton and Crain combining on a scoreless inning, trouble arose when El Matador, Sergio Santos, surrendered a solo shot to the .091 hitting Russell Mitchell to tie up the game. The poor pitching from Sergio continued into the 10th when he surrendered another 3 runs raising his ERA to 1.69. The Sox offense had issues scoring runs as 10 hits lead to only 4 runs. Juan Pierre and Carlos Quentin each had 2 hits, Gordon Beckham hit his 4th homer, driving in 2
Game 2 – Sox 9 Dodgers 2
The Sox got back to their winning ways helping Mark Buehrle on his way to becoming the winningest pitcher in interleague history. Buehrle pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 runs striking out 1. Tony Pena relieved Buehrle pitching 2 scoreless innings. Alexei, Konerko and AJ each had 3 hits apiece and Brent Lillibridge and Gordo each had 2 hit nights, Rios and Lillibridge each their 4th homers of the year.
Game 3 – Sox 8 Dodgers 3
The Sox won their 5th series of the last 6 as they took the rubber match of this series. Edwin Jackson went 5.2 Innings and gave up 1 run and 5 hits striking out 7. Chris Sale went one-third of an inning surrendering 2 hits and 2 runs and 1 walk. Jesse Crain added a scoreless inning and Matt Thornton also pitched 2 scoreless in route to his 2nd save of the year. Alexei went 4/5 with a homer and 2 doubles and Juan added 3 hits. AJ also hit his 2nd long ball of the year.
