Steeger leads Hawks past Canucks

Down 2-0 in the after 5 minutes all of Chicago was at the edge of there seats.  Up 3-2 fans were out of their seats, thanks to Kris Versteeg.

This story goes all back to the 1st period when the Canucks went up 2-0 on our Hawks.  Mason Raymond and Mikal Sameulsson scored goals in the 1st period for the Canucks and all ready you could sense the sadness of hawks fans everywhere.  However, Brent Seabrook scored with about 12 minutes left in the st which gaves us all life.

The 2nd period was scoreless but the Hawks were given numerous opportunities and couldn’t capitialize.  Burish had a break away opportunity.  The Backhand attempt didn’t fool Luango has read it the whole.  Steeger then came in with a fast break where he tried to go 5 hole one timer, which again didn’t fool Luango.  The Hawks were not the only ones with easy opportunities.  The Canucks had a 3-on-1, short-handed break later in the period, but Niemi denied an attempt by Ryan Kesler to keep it at 2-1.

The 3rd period was all Hawks.  Patrick Sharp scored a shorthanded goal late in the 2nd on the backhander and Steeger gave the Hawks a 3-2 lead.  Patrick Kane added insult to injury for the Canucks as he scored from center ice on the empty net goal.

You could really sense the energy here in game 2.  The fans were more alive and it was a more aggresive game.  Maybe due to the late additions on Adam Burish and Ben Eager?  The Hawks at 40 shots on goal and Luango stopped 37(empty net).  More shots on goals gives the Hawks or any other team for that matter a better chance to win and the Hawks took that to heart.  There are no easy games with the Canucks as their starting goalie was the Gold Medal winning goalie for Team Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics.  In game 3 expect the Hawks to play a more aggresive offensive style as shots against Luango will eventually be put in the back of the net.

The Hawks will look to take 2-1 series lead Wed. in Vancouver.
