Chicago Blackhawks draft target: James Hagens

James Hagens is probably the least popular option on this list for Chicago fans. The 18-year-old was widely regarded as the top pick in this draft for quite some time, but his sub par year at Boston College has potentially taken him out of that discussion. Hagens was still a point-per-game player in his first season at the collegiate level, as he scored 11 goals and tacked on 26 assists in 37 games.
The reason why Hagens wouldn’t be the best fit for Chicago comes down to his size. He is under six-feet tall and is a speedy, two-way center. The Blackhawks have guys like these in their prospect pool already, and they are looking for players with a bit more of a physical edge to their game. Many are hoping that the Islanders balk with the first overall pick and take Hagens for his upside. He is from Long Island, and that could play a factor in him getting back into the conversation at number one.
