Game 1 – Mariners 3 Sox 2
Phil Humber proved his worth, once again, by matching last years Cy Young award winner, King Felix, through 7 innings. Through Humbers 7 innings he surrendered 3 hits and 2 runs, lowering his season ERA to 2.97. Unfortunately, as has been the case this year, the offense was unable to support the starting pitcher as the Sox went 0-5 with RISP and could only plate 2 runs. Juan went 2/3 with a double and Carlos hit his 7th homer, a solo shot in the 7th.
Game 2 – Sox 6 Mariners 0
The Sox had a legit offensive outburst to back a solid pitching effort. Gavin went 8 innings giving up 0 runs and 3 hits striking out 6. The bottom 3rd of the order (Rios, Beckham and Morel) went 10/12; Dunn, Konerko and Pierre each had 2 hits. The Sox scored 6 runs and had 17 hits.
Game 3 –Sox 5 Mariners 2
Mark Buehrle pitched well going 8 innings and surrendering 2 runs on 9 hits and struck out 3 and Sergio Santos earned his first win of the year going 2 innings walking 1 and striking out 3. The hitting continued its rebound as the Sox compiled another 12 hits, still missing opportunities but still winning. Konerko went 5/5 and Brent Morel and Alex Rios each added 2 hits apiece.
