In the brief time I have spent with ChiCitySports, I have come to love the unprecedented access to organizations and players that being a contributor to this site offers. For instance – did you know The Cell has something called a “Weird Room?” It’s deep within the depths of the stadium. The room itself isn’t weird; quite normal, really, if small and bare. But inside is something the players call “The Weird.” It’s just a small pile of green goo that sits there. It occasionally pulsates. There have been those that claim meditating with it lets you see in an added dimension. Some say it gave Mark Buehrle his power. Some say AJ Pierzynski cooked it and left it there as a prank. Nobody knows for sure. All I know is when I told the PR team over there I was with this blog, they locked me in there with it for five hours.
But I digress.
I wanted to get the players’ take on the Bears’ recent win in Pittsburgh, but I didn’t want a bunch of empty, boilerplate football jargon. If I did, I wouldn’t mute Cris Collinsworth during games. I wanted a fresh perspective. A unique perspective. I wanted to have the game described by a player in what were truly his own words. I knew I had to ask Martellus Bennett.
Bennett understood my wish. He agreed to reveal to his personal thoughts on the game in the form of the pages from the illustrated diary he keeps. His only condition was that I accompany him to either A) the deserts of North Africa to find the other half of the pendant of Amun-Ra, or B) a McDonald’s playplace for some “unwind time.”
I agreed, and thus I present to you the pages from Martellus Bennett’s personal diary, reflecting on Sunday nights win. I hope you find them insightful. Myself, I’m going to the doctor, because no matter which trip Martellus chooses, I’m going to need to be up on my shots.

Great stuff!
This is the sort of investigative journalism you never see from the ‘lame-stream’ media, who would rather write articles about athletes twittering each other, than do authentic shoe-leather journalism.
Keep up the great work!
Please tell me those really came from MB because that my friend would be superb!
