The Chicago Bears announced today that they have signed safety Troy Nolan for the rest of the season. This move is more depth than anything else, with Chris Conte sidelined.
At this point of the season, you’re not going to find impact players on the market. So, Nolan does not look like a good signing, but he does bring depth to the team and experience.
Nolan is 26-years old and has played in 37 games in his career for the Houston Texans (2009-2012) and the Miami Dolphins (2012). He has also started in 7 of those games in 4 seasons. He was a 7th round draft pick by the Texans in 2009.
In his career … he has 84 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 3 interceptions.
I don’t think he will shine out there, but it’s just good to have another safety out there. Like most Bears fans, we would like to have Conte out there, but it doesn’t look likely.
The Bears also lost Craig Steltz for the season and depth is a problem for the Bears this year. If Nolan does have to play, let’s just hope he plays good enough and does allow the Bears to get a W in the win column.
