The Chicago White Sox are back to their losing ways after dropping all four games against the Kansas City Royals; thankfully, they won game one against the third-worst team in baseball, the Miami Marlins. Hopefully, the White Sox can take two of three from the Fish to get back on track for when their schedule gets tough again, for when they hit the road to play the Cincinnati Reds and their crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cubs.
The White Sox recently reinstated utility man Josh Rojas from the injured list after fracturing his big toe at the end of spring training. Rojas has done well since coming off the IL, hitting .286 with four total bases and scoring two runs in five games.
Rojas won’t be the only player joining the White Sox for this weekend’s series against the Marlins. News broke that the White Sox heard the outcry from fans and are finally listening to their pleas to call up one player from Triple-A.
The Chicago White Sox are to call up a fan favorite from Triple-A

The White Sox are finally listening to their fans, and according to sports writer Vinnie Duber, they are to call up 26-year-old first baseman Tim Elko.
“Source confirms the Sox are promoting Tim Elko to the major league team tomorrow.

The report by Duber was confirmed by CHSN’s Chuck Garfien, who tweeted:
“Can confirm that Tim Elko will be called up tomorrow by the White Sox. @VinnieDuber was first on it.”

Elko was scorching hot at Triple-A

Elko’s promotion had been a long time coming, as fans had begged Chris Getz and the White Sox to call him up for over a month. Elko is a former tenth-round pick from the University of Mississippi and has spent four seasons in the White Sox minor league system.
Since getting drafted, Elko has done nothing but hit, having a career .293 average in the minor leagues, and this season has seen his highest so far, hitting .348. What has been impressive about the start to Elko’s season is that his power has been on full display, hitting 10 home runs (Knights team lead) in 112 at-bats (130 plate appearances).
Elko, having a breakout season and getting called up to the show, is even more impressive when one adds the fact that Elko’s not on the White Sox’s top 30 prospect list or MLB’s top 100 prospects list. Elko is a true under-the-radar talent, and the White Sox may have found a diamond in the rough.
Andrew Vaughn is on the hot seat

The pressure is on Andrew Vaughn now that Elko is here. To say that Vaughn has struggled this season would be putting it mildly; Vaughn’s struggles are to the point where the entire fan base wants him out and Elko in.
Overall, Vaughn is hitting under the Mendoza line (.188), and he has shown no power whatsoever, having an abysmal slugging percentage of .313 and an OPS of .537, which won’t do for a player playing a power position. Manager Will Venable, according to Duber, said that both Vaughn and Elko will be in today’s lineup, but he didn’t specify who will play first and who will DH.
“Will Venable said both Tim Elko and Andrew Vaughn will be in the Sox’ lineup tomorrow, though it’s yet to be decided who will be at first base and who will DH.”

No matter who plays where, it’s exciting and a breath of fresh air to see another potential piece of the White Sox’s future get called up to the Show.
