Royals down Sox to take series

The White Sox took an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd as Alex Rios homered and Alexei Ramirez had an rbi single.

The Royals came storming back in the 4th as Butler and Guillen had RBI singles and Maier had an RBI groundout.

The Royals added to the fun with another rbi single by Guillen.

Another RBI single in the 7th cut the lead to 2 in the 7th but that is all the Sox would get as they lost 5-3.

Gavin Floyd has been a disappointment all season and that continued again tonight.  Gavin went 6 innings giving up 5 runs on 10 hits. Gavin now has an era of 7.00. Randy Williams and Tony Pena added 2 innings of relief giving up a combined 0 runs, 0 hits and 1 walk. Gavin is still win less in his career adding, “They’ve hit me pretty well,” Floyd said. “They haven’t really hit me hard. They get singles and get guys on.It’s just the way things have gone. I can’t explain it. You just have to keep making your pitches.”

On the other side Brian Bannister also went 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits.  3 pitchers for the Royals comined to give up only 2 hits and 0 runs.  Joakim Soria closed it out for the Royals.

The 2nd inning was horrible for the Sox as Bannister vertiually had to do nothing, like he said, “They did a whole inning by themselves that I didn’t have to pitch,” Bannister said. “That was very nice, always appreciated.” Exactly the thing that keeps the Sox on the losing side of things most of the time,

The Sox left 4 men on base while the Royals left 5 on.

The Sox look to start a winning streak as their next series takes them to Detroit.
